Seminar “Sharing environmental data in Latin America” – Porto Alegre 2012

During two days of August (23th and 24th), several specialists of environmental questions will discuss the issues of the online diffusion of data, from different geographical and disciplinary points of view. The program of the seminar is already established, but new propositions will be accepted and included until 30th of June. Free-access data on biodiversity in France

July 5, 2011 – Master 1 dissertation presented by Delphine Montagne (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne) : « Free-access data on biodiversity in France » (Les données localisées en accès libre sur la biodiversité en France).

This dissertation analyzes the main features of the free-access data diffusion process in France, focusing in biodiversity data.  It focuses in the spatial variation of data release comparing its availability in the websites of 10 french regions. Twenty interviews to members of broadcasting institutions (ranging from public administration to conservancy associations) allowed to discuss the institutional, technical and political logics which shape the current diffusion process.
